Dr. Meieran was involved in developing monochromater crystals for x-ray fluorescence analysis of lunar soil prior to the Apollo landings. He was also involved in solving a device problem that threatened Apollo 12 liftoff in Oct/Nov 1969. His responsibility was to determine cause of device failure, report this to Jim McDivitt and George Low, and the mission lifted off on schedule.
