    Paul Hill

Paul Hill was born in 1910 in Arkansas but came to California at an early age with his parents along with his three brothers and one sister.
He quickly developed an interest in the field of aviation. As a child, he and his brothers built wooden toy gliders to sell to neighborhood children.
He learned to fly in biplanes and his original pilot certificate was signed by Orville Wright.
Being the eldest son, Paul was the family glue and eventually got all of his brothers involved in the field of aviation. Two of his brothers also became pilots and one was involved in aircraft design and production.
After a stint in the US Marine Corps in the early 1930s, he became a test pilot along with instructing new student pilots. He was also a talented airplane mechanic.
When WWII broke out, he started working for the Consolidated Aircraft Company in San Diego test flying and ferrying newly built B-24s.
On February 17, 1943 he and other Consolidated pilots flew several new B-24s to an Army Air Corp field in Tucson Arizona. As a passenger in one of the B-24s for the return flight to San Diego, he was killed when the plane crashed and burned shortly after take-off.
He left behind a wife and an unborn child.
He is buried at Inglewood Cemetery in Southern California.

His brother, Sidney, named his son born in 1954 in his honor.
