    Honored by:

As a small boy, gazing in awe at the RAF Pageant, Hcndon, N. London, late 1920's, a 20 minute D/H Dragon ""school trip" at 12, overcoming lack of a college education and at 18, escaping a reserved occupation in war-torn Britain, on being selected for aircrew! Aug. 1942 - ITWing; Grading School (DHTiger Moth); EFTS; & to Dec. 7, 1943 & my "wings", # 1 SFTS, (Harvard AT6's), Ontario Canada At # 1 GR School, PEI, astro-navigation- an awareness of space! At AFU, (Airspeed Oxford's)UK. To India & 354 Sqdn (Liberator B24's); Air Command SEA Comm. Squadron. Ceylon, (Dakota" C47's), a non-stop senior personnel shuffling operation !- ranging India & Burma. For relief, I check out on L5's & a Fairchild "Argus", from the squadron's cornucopia of mostly US made aircraft. Aug. 24th 1945; and a big change! on C47's with S/LDR Campbell - Lord & Lady Mountbattcn from SEAC to Colombo, for return to UK & L/Gen Browning & Staff (Japanese surrender, SEAC-Rangoon, Aug. 25-28, 1945) Then, at Singapore, over all of Indonesia & Hong Kong, C47's & C45's. Long C45 trips-Air Vice-Marshall Biggs, C.B.E., M.C.(Mar.3-31, 1946, India tour); short: -Air Chief Marshal Sir John Slessor (Seletar -Changi. Singapore Apr. 6, 1946) for example. On "demobilisation", navigator F/LT Alan Carter & I ferry Expeditor KN128 to Obcmpfafen-Hofen. Germany, June 18-July 11, 1946 (return Lend-Lease); I still have the receipt!
Inevitably, flying then, brought it's share of tragedy; but overall, an achievement of which I am proud.
