Frank Dasse's career in missile and space activities started in 1956, when he joined a General Motors division to help develop the guidance system for the Air Force Thor missile. He moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida in 1957, for flight test activities and became launch pad supervisor for pads 17A, 17B and 18A. Subsequently, Frank had managerial positions at various sites around the U.S. on the Thor, the Army Matador, and Air Force bomb-navigation system on the B-52's.

In 1962, Frank, along with other GM engineers, relocated to Boston to help MIT develop the Guidance & Navigation (G&N) system for the Apollo Command Module and the Lunar Module. He then relocated to the Kennedy Space Center to head up a crew of 60 engineers and technicians. Frank & his team were responsible for checkout and launch operations of the G&N for the Apollo moon mission. That effort resulted in the successful moon landing and safe return in 1969. Frank was honored to receive the 1969 NASA Public Service Award for his team's participation in the highly successful program.
