    On Feb. 20, 1962, Frank J. Przeslicke sat alongside Astronaut Wally Schirra, assisting communication operations at Point Arguello tracking station during John Glenn's Friendship Seven orbital flight. His path into being a member of the support staff for Project Mercury included participating in Army JROTC at Carter H. Harrison Technical High School in Chicago, being drafted into the Army during the Korean War, receiving training in communications in the Signal Corps, receiving an Associate Degree from DeVry Technical Institute via the G.I. Bill, being hired by Western Electric Corporation, and eventually finding himself at the Goddard Space Flight Center as part of the team of people planning Project Mercury. Frank J. Przeslicke died in a work related accident at Point Arguello on November 8, 1963, leaving behind a wife and two young sons.
