Born November 19, 1916, Houston, Texas. Became aviation fan when C. Lindberg flew to Paris, France. At 20 years of age (1936-1937) we visited the local airport to find out that the aircraft engine turned faster than the propeller because of tip speed problem. On the way home, we designed a pointed nose fighter with pusher propeller, multi blade with small diameter inducted fan set up. Had no money to build same.
Enlisted in Army Air Corp as cadet, sent to Santa Ana, California Air Base to learn to fly for the Army. Went to Eagle Field, South of Los Banos, CA for primary flight training. Sent to Merced Army Air Base for Basic Training. Was not a natural pilot. Sent to Nuie Field in Illinois for new training. While there submitted idea on how B24 type plane could be made into a cargo plane.
