    Mr. John Randall

Frederick is known as "Fran." He began his interest in flying with the U.S. Navy while on active duty 1954-1958, followed by a 3-year term with the U.S. Navy Reserve in Glenview, Illinois. As a Navy Lieutenant who went through the NROTC program at Marquette University in Milwaukee, he trained in Pensacola, Florida and Corpus Christi, Texas. He qualified on the USS Hornet out of Moffett Field near San Francisco, California. He spent much of his Naval flying duty on the USS Boxer.

While in the Navy he flew a number of planes, including:
    S2F -- Anti-submarine airplane
    SNJ -- Training airplane
T28 -- Training airplane to be educated in instrument flying
AD7 -- To be qualified on the USS Hornet
In 1963 he joined American Airlines and earned his Captain's stripes with American in 1964. During his 29-year flying career with American, he flew the BAC111, DC6, Electra, DC7, 727, DC9, DC10, 707 as Captain, and the 747 as First Officer.
He retired from American in 1992 and to this day continues his love of airplanes. He is particularly interested that a S2F -- a model that he flew during his time with the Navy -- is now being restored at the Akron-Canton Airport in Canton, Ohio.
Fran now resides in Copley, Ohio.
