Served as Code Clerk with U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in 1944-1945, taking part in invasion of Okinawa and occupation duty in China. After war, served as the Civil Defense Director of Warren, Michigan, and directed cuty’s Ground Observer Corps, 1946-48.
