With more than 50 years of experience in real estate development and other businesses, Jerry Halpin has been honored with Virginia's "Life Achievement Award in Industry" as well as the Ernst & Young "Master Entrepreneur of the Year Award" for his vision, hard work and integrity.

Jerry had a significant role in the advancement of solid-propellant rockets when he served as Vice President and Treasurer for Atlantic Research Corporation in the 1950's. He was responsible for the financing, development, design and construction of ARC'S five manufacturing facilities, a headquarters complex, a laboratory and a testing facility in Virginia. At the dedication of these buildings, Jerry and ARC were commended for "advancing significantly the state of the art of solid propellant rocketry and our national defense." Jerry helped to locate, plan and finance these facilities, plus other manufacturing plants and missile launching stations in New Hampshire, Boston, Utah, North Carolina and California, making possible the "Polaris weapon system." Jerry also negotiated the acquisition of U.S. Flare Corporation, making ARC the nation's largest industrial producer of ordnance and pyrotechnics.
