    Air and Space Sponsor

My special interest in space exploration was fueled by the early Mercury Program, especially the John Glenn mission which I remember watching live in school. The moon landings were the culmination . . . up to this point. Hopefully a manned-Mars landing will occur before I take up residence on the south side of the grass.
When I decided to join the military, the Air Force was the logical choice, considering my interest in the skies above. Unfortunately I could not become a pilot with my eyesight, but as a member of Air Force Security, I at least guarded the vehicles of aviation, and now as a postal worker, I look to our space-themed stamps . . . and of course, “air mail”.
