    Honored by:
    Ms. Stephanie Fluke

We are honoring our Father, Gary Dan Miller, a man whose love of flight can only be outweighed by the love for his family.

Our Father first received his pilot’s license when he was a young teenager living in the oil fields of West Texas. He would reminisce about racing to the hanger from school, get in his airplane, which he shared with four other people, and would race the school bus home. It was a modest, old plane; nonetheless, my father loved it.

Our father's dream of becoming a fighter pilot were dashed when he was told his eye sight was too poor to fly for the military however that did not stop him. He dedicated 26 years to the Central Intelligence Agency, analyzing Soviet aircraft. He retired from the CIA with many honors and awards for his distinguished work.

As young girls, we remember our father taking us to the Andrews Air Force Base air shows and being in awe of these magnificent machines. Dad would just stroll about and rattle off what airplane it was, what is was used for and so on, he seemed to know everything, particularly to his daughters, who actually enjoyed these trips to air shows and air parks and admired their fathers' knowledge and love for the aviation world.
Now he has a granddaughter, Julia, who only knew her grandfather for a short year and a half, before he passed away. You can see in her eyes, the love of airplanes too. From just a young age, Julia started pointing to the airplanes in the distant sky, from our front yard. Now that Grandpop has passed away, we tell her that the flying airplanes are his way of saying hello. Julia's pointing has now turned into blowing kisses to every airplane that passes her way.

This is now our way of saying hello and we love you Dad!

    Your Loving Daughters,

    Stephanie and Laura
