    Gen. Hua graduated from the Chinese Air Force Academy and worked as a military pilot in Taiwan. After completion of many missions with the spy airplane U-2 over the Mainland China, he went to Purdue University in 1964 to pursue graduate education in aeronautical engineering. Received Ph. D. and worked for Cessna and Lockheed Aircraft companies until he went back to Taiwan in 1970 to participate establishing an aircraft industry, AIDC, there. Under his 24-years' leadership, AIDC had developed and produced several indigenous aircrafts: TCH-1, a turboprop trainer; AT-3, a jet-trainer; and IDF, a supersonic fighter. AIDC also jointly developed and produced the TFE-1042 augmented turbofan engine with Allied-Signal Aerospace Co. Some of his honors include the Engineering Medal from the Society of Engineers in the Republic of China, Associate Fellow in AIAA, the Outstanding Aerospace Engineer Award from Purdue University, the Distinguished Flying Cross from the U.S. Air Force, and many medals ROC Air Force.
