    Gen. John P. Jumper is commander, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, VA The command organizes, trains, equips and maintains combat-ready for rapid deployment and employment while ensuring strategic air defense forces ire ready to meet the challenges of peacetime air sovereignty and wartime defense, ACC is comprised of 1,050 aircraft and approximately 117,300 active-duty military and :civilian members at 26 major installations in the United States, Iceland and the Azores. Mien mobilized, more than 64,400 Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve members along with 780 aircraft are assigned to ACC. The1 command provides nuclear forces for J.S. Strategic Command, theater air forces for U.S. Joint Forces Command. U.S. Central Command., U.S- Southern Command, U.S. European Command and U.S. Pacific Command, and defense forces for the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
    The general was born in Paris, Texas. He earned his commission as a distinguished graduate of Virginia Military Institute's ROTC program in 1966. Prior to his ACC assignment, he was commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Allied Air Forces -central Europe. He also has commanded a fighter squadron, two fighter wings and a lumbered air force. The general also served at the Pentagon as deputy chief of staff for Air and space operations, as the senior military assistant to two secretaries of defense, and is special assistant to the chief of staff for roles and missions. He is a command pilot with 4,000 flying hours, principally in fighter aircraft, He served two tours in Southeast *Asia, accumulating more than 1,400 combat hours.
