    George Daniel (Dan) Hendrix was born in Piqua, OH on February 3,1924 and was raised in Tarzana, CA. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps August 1942 and completed pilot training in December 1943. Original member of the 434th Fighter Squadron formed at Glendale Airport in 1943. His group, 479th, was sent to England (Wattisham) in May 1944. He flew 67 combat missions and destroyed four enemy aircraft. He also flew 50 combat missions in Korea in F-94s and over 200 missions in RF-4C Phantoms in Southeast Asia. Included in his thirteen service medals are the Distinguished Flying Cross with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medals with 14 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Bronze Star.
    He graduated from UCLA and the USAF Experimental Test Pilot School and served as a Test Pilot for ten years.
    He spent 11 years with Rockwell International and retired as the Director of Flight Test in 1984.
    He spent his retirement years with his wife Lorraine of 56 years. He passed away on September 24, 2002.
