George Schatz was a bombardier on B-17s based in England with the 8th Air Force from 1944 -1945. He flew 37 missions over France and Germany before and after D-Day 6 June 1944. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
He completed a tour on August 8,1944 as a bombardier on the Ken Elwood crew 600th Bomb Squadron, 398tth Bomb Group, Nuthampstead, England in a B-17G.
