    George H. Miley received his B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1955 and PhD from the University of Michigan in 1959. He and his wife Elizabeth have two children, Susan and Hunter. He has been Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Illinois since 1961. His teaching and research on nuclear energy has included studies of both fission and fusion space propulsion. He has pioneered work on D-He3 fusion power plants intended to reduce radioactivity concerns and ultimately utilize lunar mining of He3 as a “fueling station” for space vehicles. He has been an enthusiastic member of AIAA technical groups on space propulsion and colonization and an officer in the ANS committee on Aerospace Nuclear Science and Technology.
