    George spent most of life promoting the Space Program. He received his pilot license in 1940, served in the Marines and was a Pearl Harbor and Midway survivor. He was a graduate of New Mexico State University and received his Masters Degree from the University of Southern California. He retired as a Spanish Teacher from the Alamogordo Public Schools in 1974, after 27 years as a teacher. In retirement, he promoted the space program as a volunteer at the Space Museum, traveled over U.S. and visited schools, copied tapes for use in schools.
