    Honored by:
    Karen Frebert

George J. Frebert was born at the start of the Great Depression, August 15, 1929 in College Park, Maryland. His childhood interests were building and flying model airplanes. Before he was 15 years old, he rode his bicycle to College Park Airfield where he worked on weekends as a line boy in trade for flying lessons. His instructor was George Brinkerhoff, who he came to look upon as a father figure. George soloed on his 16th birthday in a Piper J3 Cub on August 15, 1945, which was also V-J Day.
He joined the USAF when the Korean conflict broke out and was assigned to the Pentagon to reproduce aerial reconnaissance maps. After four years of service he elected to return to the printing industry as a profession.
In September 1957, he moved to Dover, Delaware to start Dover Litho Printing Company. His success in business prompted him to return to personal flying and he obtained his private commercial and multi-engine ratings at Delaware Airpark. His interest was not only in flying, but also working on planes. Under the watchful eyes of AP/IA's he restored an Aeronca 7AC, two Tri-Pacers and an Alon A2.
After he retired from the printing business, George decided to document for all time Delaware's Aviation History. After over three years of research, the printing company he founded now operated by his son Michael Frebert, printed 2,000 copies of his 384-page hardbound book, Delaware Aviation History. The book documents all aviation events in Delaware from the dawn of aviation through the 1990s. George's most prized achievement in aviation is to have been accepted as a member of the QB's in the ILG Hangar, Wilmington, Delaware.
