    Craig Minea

The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Minea for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as Pilot of a B-17 airplane on bombing missions over Germany, 9 February 1945 and 24 March 1945. On both these operations, Lieutenant Minea exhibited outstanding flying ability and singular determination. Flak encountered on the bomb run on 9 February 1945 severely damaged the aircraft which this officer was piloting. With one engine feathered, a second giving partial power and all throttle cables severed, Lieutenant Minea expertly maintained formation until bombs away. He then capably accomplished the flight to base alone. On 24 March 1945 with but two engines operative, Lieutenant Minea determinedly continued on to bomb the vital enemy objective and then safely effected the return to home station. The courage, coolness and skill displayed by Lieutenant Minea reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
