    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    The Sklut Family

Our father Glenn worked as an aircraft engine mechanic for Northeast Airlines in Washington D.C. from 1958 to 1962 and later for Capital Airlines at Logan Airport, in Boston, Massachusetts. The aircraft he worked on included English Viscounts, DC-3 and DC- 6, and the Convair 880.

Through his diligence as a meticulous mechanic and problem solver, he discovered a flaw in the design of landing gear pins which caused several aircraft to land without landing gear. His work lead to the redesign of this part and the elimination of belly landings caused by this part.

He always held a strong interest in aviation and even trained to become a licensed pilot. His passion for science and space exploration led him to design and build a telescope, hand-lathing each brass piece, which he uses daily to track satellites, the space station, stars and planets.
