Gus was a fighter pilot, trained to fly F-86 Sabre jets at Nellis AF, Las Vegas, Nevada. He served during the Korean War, stationed at Itazuke AFB, Japan. Through his years as a Reserve Officer, he served as USAF Liaison to our Civil Air Patrol unit on Long Island, NY. When he retired from USAF Reserve, we moved to North Carolina, where he served as Membership Chairman for our Coastal TROA Carolina Chapter. He also was actively involved as a volunteer at our local military bases. Through the years he remained close to his F-86 friends. In every way he was a true patriot! I’m so proud of him.
