Harold J. Ingram, Jr. grew up in New Jersey and was a graduate of Morristown Prep School. He attended Rutgers University. In 1962 he moved with his wife, Bette and his children, Jim and Susan, to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he went to work for the ZIA Corporation at White Sands Missile Range and finished his schooling at New Mexico State University. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. At White Sands he worked on the propulsion and life-support systems of the early spacecraft. His responsibilities included the refrigeration and HVAC systems regarding the design, problem solving, installation and maintenance and was responsible for temperature control during fueling operations of the Apollo tests program. In 1969 he and his family moved to Houston, Texas where he worked for the General Electric Company I & SE Department at the Mechanical and Nuclear Southern District Office at the Houston Space Center and he continued his life-long interest in and commitment to space exploration and space travel.
Harold died on 9/27/1999 of acute respiratory failure. He was a true pioneer and space advocate.
