    Born March 13, 1922 Herkimer, NY; Enlisted US. Navy April, 1940; Aviation Machinist Mate 1st Class & Flying Plane Captain: Served Aboard USS New Orleans, Scout Observation Squadron VCS- 6 (SOC-3); Flew in the War in the South Pacific from NAS Kaneohe Bay, HI Patrol Squadron VP-14 (PBY-5) including December 7,1941; participated in Searches for Eddie Rickenbacker and Amelia Earhart out of Canton Is.; Flew on patrols in Japanese occupied waters while based at Midway Is. VP-14 (PBY-5A); at Espiritu Santo Is. and Guadalcanal Bombing/Patrol Squadron VB-102 (PB4Y 1); Returned April, 1944 to San Francisco, Naval Air Transport VR-4, VR-12 and VR-8; Honorable Discharge with Decorations April, 1946.
