    A lifelong aviation enthusiast, Mr. Everett soloed soon after his 16th birthday, flew sailplanes while attending Oklahoma State University, and completed USAF pilot training with class -52H. After combat crew training in F-86's he joined the 21st Wing at George AFB, California, flew the North Atlantic "High Flight" route during the wing's move to Chambley, France, and served with the wing gunnery team, which represented USAF in Europe at the Nellis AFB competition in 1955. After active duty he flew the F-80, F-86D, and KC-97 with the Texas ANG while pursuing a career in missile engineering.
