    Through the GI Bill obtained a fixed wing private pilot’s license in Ocala, Florida. Qualified in the Piper Cub in 1947.
    Flew with Kenneth Wisdom, mayor of Albany, Kentucky who owned a Piper Cub. Used his 16mm camera to film various locals and events around Clinton County Kentucky, including aerial footage of the largest oil well fire ever recorded in Kentucky. Smoke from the fire could be seen for 150 miles.
    As member of the local chamber of commerce, made numerous trips to Louisville and Frankfort promoting tourism in the Lake Cumberland area. Flew with Ken to Pittsburgh to solicit funding for local industrial park. While chairman of the Albany Airport Board of Directors worked to acquire federal assistance for the construction of the local airport.
    Instilled a love of aviation in his two sons, who both served in the armed forces as pilots flying both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
