    The Elliott Family

This nomination is in recognition of Henry Hiram Elliott's significant contribution to the development of the aviation industry. For a period of over forty years, Henry Elliott played a major role in the maturing of Pan American Airlines and as an administrator with Allied Maintenance Industries contributed to the successful operations of numerous major airports throughout the east coast.
From 1939, with postings in Brazil, the Azores, Newfoundland, and Liberia, Henry Elliott was instrumental in the development of Pan American flight routes to South America, Europe, and Africa. Later with postings as manager for Pan American at Brussels Belgium, Beirut Lebanon, and subsequently for an eight year period as manager for Pan American operations at Heathrow Airport London, Henry Elliott continued to make contributions to the development of international flight. From Travis AFB, California, Henry Elliott played a key role in the structuring of the commercial airlift necessary to support the buildup of forces and sustaining operations for the nation’s efforts in the Viet Nam conflict.
Following his service with Pan American, Henry Elliott continued his affiliation with aviation with tenure with the aviation division of Allied Maintenance and assignments at National Airport, Washington D. C, JFK International Airport, New York, and Newark Airport, New Jersey where he served as airport manager.
Throughout the developing years of international flight, from seaplanes to the 747 Jumbo Jet, Henry Elliott's participation in the story of flight deserves telling.
