    Henry Meier Lewis 1921 ?€“ 2015

Henry M Lewis was born on September 15, 1921, in Dixon, WY, where his parents were homesteading.

His aviation career began on May 7, 1939, with 30 Minutes Dual instruction in a Taylorcraft - 65HP - 90 MPH - Altitude 2,000 Feet

His last flight Logged was 2.2 Hours on December 19, 1984, in a North American Sabreliner - 2 Turbojet Engines of 3,300 pounds thrust each - 520 MPH - Altitude 41,000 Feet

In between, he logged 27,995 Hours in over 40 types of aircraft, including the P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, & P-63 with the 6th Ferry Group in 1944, and C-46's over the "Hump" in 1945. Post War, he flew converted B-18's & C-47's for Miami Airlines, and C-46's in Medellin, Colombia, before joining the world of Corporate Aviation. This began with a Cessna 310 in 1958 for Container Corporation of America, moved through a succession of Beech 18's, from converted C-45's to a brand new G-18, and into his first Turboprop, a Swearingen Merlin SA-26T. When CCA merged with Montgomery Ward, he got to fly his first jet, a Lear 23, which remained his favorite. Montgomery Ward later merged with Mobil Oil, and he retired from the Mobil Oil Aviation Department on January 1, 1985.

Henry passed away quietly on 25 February, 2015. He was a quiet, unassuming man, part of the Greatest Generation, and a Pilot's Pilot, who has traded one set of wings for another.
