LTC. Herman E. (Herm) Becker was born June 23, 1947. After graduating from Purdue University he completed USAF OTS (Aug 18, 1970) and Pilot Training (Oct 16, 1971). He then flew a combat tour in Vietnam in the A-37 (198 missions) after which he left active duty through Palace Chase into the USAF Reserves. Before retiring after 23 years of service he flew the A-37B, F-100D, A-7D and F-4D in four different Reserve and Air National Guard Units. His awards/medals include the Silver Star, The Air Medal with 16 oak leaf clusters and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry among others.
In December 1976 Herman joined American Airlines and flew the B-727, MD-80, A-300, B-757/767 and the B-777 aircraft both domestic and international before retiring after 28 years of service.
Besides his military and commercial flying Herman has flown many civilian aircraft to include crop dusters while amassing over 17,000 hours of flight time.
