    Homer M. Jones was born in Kentucky on 23 Nov. 1909. He started flying at 17 years of age with his instructor and older brother Wade. He soloed in an OX5 Powered bi-plane on 2 Feb. 1929. He and Frank Fairchild established aviation training in Cincinnati Public Schools providing pilot and mechanic curriculums. He helped build the first control tower and train the first controllers at Lunken Airport in ’40-41. He also has a 15 minute talk show on WKRC called “Just About Flying.” Jones entered the Navy on 29 Aug. 1942 and was Honorably Discharged as a Lt. on 23, Nov. 53. He served in the American, Euro, African, Mideast and Asiatic-Pacific campaigns. In addition, Jones ran the C.P.T.P. In Cincinnati Teaching Ground and Flight Training using Aeronca Champs, Taylorcraft, WACO-UPF-7 and Stearman PT-17s. he also instructed GI Bills students at Blue Ash. He served as Sec. of Ohio Wing OX5 Club and Sec./Tres. Of Midwest Fl. Wing. He has been recognized by NAFI for 30+ years of professional flight instruction and was published as a pioneer through OX5 Organization. The Future of Aviation “Tips its Hat” to aviation pioneer – Homer M. Jones.
