MSgt Edmund B. Jenkins was a member of General Patton’s 3rd Army Ghost Corps in World War II. He had men of the 609th Engineering who led Patton’s tanks ashore at Normandy, France, at 10:30 PM on the 7th of June 1944.

Later the engineers plowed five feet of snow off the road so General Patton and his tanks could receive the 101st Airborne who were surrounded at Bastogne, Belgium. Sgt Jenkins group helped build 2000 bridges across Europe for the 3rd Army tanks.

For this job the engineers received many medals from the General, including a Unit Citation! Silver Stars, Bronze Stars, and a few more medals were earned. They were always at the front, and they only lost six men during the war.
