    At Aerospace Corp., in 1964, he proposed a satellite navigation system utilizing orbiting atomic clocks which would allow the user to determine position anywhere in the world quickly, with a high degree of accuracy (0.1 nautical miles). Originally called NAVSAT, the name was later changed to the Global Positioning System. GPS is now routinely used worldwide for land, sea and air navigation.
