Honored by:
US Army aviator 1962-1965. Completed 755 combat missions in Vietnam. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and 29 Air Medals. Also awarded three South Vietnam Crosses of Gallantry with palm and gold star.
Served with 73rd Aviation Company and 52nd Combat Aviation Battalion -- both units were first to earn Meritorious and Presidential Unit Citations in Vietnam.
Captured and held as Prisoner of War for a few days in September 1964. Flew O-1 surveillance fixed-wing aircraft and was shot down three times.
