    INFORMATION REGARDING HULON WORTH WILLIAMS - LITTLE ROCK, MS

    Hulon Worth Williams, Second Lieutenant, United States Army Air Corps, died in a plane crash, 24 June 1942, in Wisconsin.

    Mrs. W. D. Viverette, of this city, has received the news that her brother, Hulon W. Williams, now serving in the country's armed forces, has been commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps.

    Lt. Williams is now stationed at Lubbock Army Flying School, Lubbock, Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Williams of Little Rock. The young flier is a graduate of Beulah-Hubbard High School and East Central Junior College of Decatur.

    Mrs. Viverette also has two nephews who have taken their places in the war on the Axis. Lt. Billy Williams, after graduating at Barksdale Field, is now serving with the US Army Air Corps at Ft. Worth, Texas. The second nephew is a former resident of Meridian, Private Willie Williams, now stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He has many friends here, who will recall him as an efficient employee of McDonough Motor Express.

    THE MERIDIAN STAR
    June 26, 1942

    Lt. Hulon Worth Williams, age 22 years, of Little Rock, Miss., was killed in an airplane crash along with two other Army airmen at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, June 24, 1942.

    Lt. Williams is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Williams of Little Rock, seven brothers, Lamar Williams, Fort Worth, Texas; Rev. Joe Williams, Henry Etta, Okla.; Earl Williams, Highland, Ill.; Charles, Carl, Roger and Walter Williams all of Little Rock; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Knight, Little Rock; Mrs. Ruby Viverette, Meridian; Misses Jewel and Colene Williams of Little Rock. Several aunts and uncles survive along with a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his going.

    Lt. Williams united with the Baptist Church of Little Rock about 5 years ago and was admired by all who knew him. He was formerly a student at Decatur Junior College and received his "wings" in Wisconsin.

    Lt. John Wood accompanied the body home and remained until after the funeral services were over.

    Funeral services were held at Little Rock Baptist Church Tuesday morning, June 29, conducted by Rev. G. O. Parker of Magee, with Union Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    THE UNION APPEAL
    June 2, 1942

    Hulon Worth Williams joined the United States Army at age 21. He completed his pilot training and was a Second Lieutenant. Stationed at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, he flew multi-motored aircraft and was killed in a training accident in Wisconsin in July of 1942.

    Hulon Williams, of Decatur, is now stationed at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin. He was among a group of Mississippi boys who received their "wings" and commissioned as second lieutenants at Lubbock Field, Texas in May. He received his basic training at Ballinger, Texas, and his basic instruction at Goodfellow Field, San Angelo, Texas.

    While Lieut. Williams was a student at East Central Junior College from 1939 to 1941, he was outstanding as an honor roll student, and he was a leader in many extra curricula activities.
