From her childhood home on an Oakland hill, she watched with excitement as China Clippers circled and landed on San Francisco Bay. As a child she hung on the chain-link fence to watch the aircraft at Oakland Airport. An open cockpit ride with a visiting barnstormer was a thrill to remember a lifetime.
As a beautiful lady, a chance encounter on a beach at Maui
led to wedding a Lockheed test/instructor pilot, and realization of lifetime dreams as she accompanied him on assignments to many parts of the world, logging many happy hours in C-130's, L-382's, and L-300's.
Bette quite simply loves airplanes and flying.
