    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Sponsor

    Honored by:
    Mr. Stephen M. Denes

Like Mr. Udvar-Hazy, Mr. Istvan Denes was born in Hungary and was fascinated by technology and aerospace from an early age. He escaped the tyranny of communism in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution and came to the United States by way of Canada. He worked almost his entire career in the aerospace industry in a variety of technical assignments with Lockheed Martin in Denver, Colorado. His attention to detail in quality control assignments earned him the respect of his supervisors and colleagues. He worked on such critical projects as the Viking Mars Lander, Skylab, the Space Shuttle and the Peacekeeper missile system. In addition to working for Lockheed Martin for nearly 25 years, he showed his commitment to the company and the nation's aerospace power by investing in the company as a stockholder. He retired in 1999 and is still fascinated by the technology that will some day take us to the stars and beyond.
