    Ivan Munroe was born near Tallahassee, FL on Jan. 2, 1902. He learned to fly at 17 years old, and held a CAA Pilot License No. He later held Instrument, multiengine commercial and instructor’s certificates and was a CAA Designated Examiner as well as an A&E Mechanics Certificate. In 1929, he became manager of the Tallahassee Airport (later Dale Mabry Field) and operated the Ivan Munroe Flight School and in the ensuing years was a dealer for Piper, Taylorcraft, Ercoupe and Republic Seabee Amphibian aircraft. He formed the "Tallahassee Civil Air Patrol Fri 1940 - 1941, and offered employment opportunities in exchange for a stipend and flight lessons to many youngsters in Tallahassee (including me). This led to my career in aviation as it did for others. He truly promoted and nurtured an interest in aviation among many young people.
    The new airline Terminal ""at the Tallahassee Regional Airport bears his name and all here who are interested in aviation came together to make this possible. He died on March 6, 1974.
