    After earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from the United States Naval Academy, J.R. Hutchison served 30 years in the Navy and retired with the rank of Captain. During his naval service, he commanded the amphibious ship USS Tripoli (LPH 10) and the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67). He also commanded two light attack aircraft squadrons and accumulated, more than 4,000 flight hours and logged more than 900 aircraft carrier landings.
    J. R. Hutchison currently works for the Northrop Grumman Corporation. He is the Director of Business Development for Aircraft Carriers with Northrop Grumman Newport News. He works closely with Washington, D.C. offices and aircraft carrier programs to respond to unique naval aviation and combatant ship requirements. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman Corporation in 2005, J. R. Hutchison worked for The Boeing Company for eight years as a business development manager. In this role he served as the director for the multi-national joint strike fighter program and later as the director of Navy programs in Washington, D.C.
