Mr Winefordner, "Sam," is huge supporter of all aspects of aviation. He attends air shows throughout the US and abroad. He volunteers to work at the Southern Museum of Flight in Birmingham, AL. Mr Winefordner attends the Reno Air Races every year, and he'll visit any aviation museum he comes across.

His great uncle, John Arlin Winefordner, lost his life when the engine of the plane he was piloting caught fire after take-off.

Sam Winefordner is also a licensed private pilot.
