    James David began his career at the National Air & Space Museum in 1990 as a museum specialist in the Department of Space History. Upon becoming a curator, he assumed responsibility for the museum’s military and intelligence space systems and related artifact collections. His books include Spies and Shuttles: NASA’s Secret Relationships with the DoD and CIA and Conducting Post-World War II National Security Research in Executive Branch Records: A Comprehensive Guide. In addition to publishing many scholarly articles on a wide range of U.S. intelligence operations during the Cold War, he served on NASM’s planning committee for the Udvar-Hazy Center. He retired from the National Air & Space Museum in 2024.
