    Honored by:
    Ms. Janice Miller

For heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty: Warrant Officer Miller distinguished himself while serving as aircraft commander in support of a Special Forces unit. He volunteered to resupply a lone outpost located on the peak of a treacherous mountain, which was largely controlled by enemy forces. He exposed himself to heavy enemy fire and shifting gusts of wind to bring supplies into the outpost. His actions were in keeping with the highest of traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
During his tour of duty in Vietnam (Feb. 1967-Feb. 1968), Jim was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal (with 38 oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with “V” device for valor), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with 3 Bronze Service stars), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (with device), Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross (with Palm Unit Citation Badge), 2 O/S Bars, and a Sharpshooter Qualification Badge (with Pistol Bar).
James E. Miller was born in July 1945 in Canton, Ohio to Eli and Esther Miller.
