James Myers, or Jimmy, as we know him, was destined for a career in aviation. As a boy he regularly flew from Los Angeles to San Jose to visit his Dad. He loved flying Southwest Airlines and especially the captain wings given by the flight attendants.

When James visited our home he would play "gate agent" for hours; booking flights from city to city, negotiating layovers and fares. Once he discovered Southwest made model airplanes we decided to gift him his first one?€¦he now has fifteen.

With the Hiller Aviation Museum conveniently located near us, we decided James should visit. In the back was a real 747 cockpit, complete with a retired pilot who shared every aspect of flying with him.

When Southwest came calling James had the perfect answer in the group interview when asked why he wanted to work for Southwest. He replied "I've always wanted to work in aviation!" That sealed the deal. This plaque represents James's dedication to his chosen career?€¦one he was destined for!
