    Honored by:

    - Built and flew ultralight aircraft in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

    - Won the "Best Unregulated Ultralight" award at the 1979 Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) convention in Oshkosh, WI.

    - Assisted in organizing and steering the ultralight movement in Northern Illinois. Also, a founding member of the "Loud Birdmen."

    - Have designed, built, and flown remote controlled (R/C) aircraft since 1958.

    - Did extensive work at the leading edge of electric power for R/C aircraft and have been called the "Paul McCready" and "Burt Rutan" of R/C.

    - Wife, Jane, Earned her pilot's license at age of 49.
