I became interested in flying when my wife, Joan, decided that she wanted to learn how to fly.  It had been her lifelong dream.  I decided that I wasn't going to fly with her unless I knew how to fly so we signed up for lessons together.  Once I started I became hooked.  After obtaining my private pilot's license, I went on to obtain my instrument rating and commercial pilot's license.  We both became involved with the Civil Air Patrol and enjoyed flying our own plane for many years.
