Following pilot training and completion of gunnery school in the F-86A & E, I was assigned to the 35th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Group at Suwon, Korea (K-13) where I flew 58 combat missions in the F-86F before the Korean War ended. I participated in the Jupiter and Minuteman Missile programs in Turkey (during the Cuban missile crisis) and at Whiteman AFB, MO as maintenance and operations officer respectively. I served in Southeast Asia with the 606th Special Operations Squadron at NKP, Thailand where I flew 145 missions as a night Forward Air Controller in the C-123K and was Squadron Commander the last four months of my tour. Medals include: Air Force Commendation Medals, Air Medals, and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
