    Jim Savoy enlisted in the Army in 1969. After basic training, he was deployed to Vietnam where he served as a helicopter crew member from 1967 to 1970 in the 175th Assault Helicopter Company know as the "Outlaws." He went on to become a helicopter pilot after training with the 2nd WOC Company at the U. S. Primary Helicopter Center in Ft. Wolters, TX. He then served 4 years as a helicopter pilot in the 3rd Squadron, 4th Calvary, 25th Infantry Division, C Troop stationed at Scholfield Barracks, Hawaii. His love of flying helicopters continues to this day.
