Jamie Damsker enjoyed a distinguished career as a USAF fighter WSO. During his 12 years in the Air Force, he flew the F-4E, RF-4C, F-111D/E/F/G, and the F-15E. His career capstone was flying combat missions over Serbia and Kosovo during Operation Allied Force, and being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for a mission flown on 28 April 1999. During that sortie, he delivered the first-ever GBU-28 from an F-15E in combat. Several missile threats and bad weather made the flight especially dangerous and difficult. He scored a direct hit. Jamie flew in the 12th and 91st Reconnaissance Squadrons at Bergstrom AFB, TX (RF-4C), the 523rd and 428th Fighter Squadrons at Cannon AFB, NM (F-111)m and the 494th Fighter Squadron at RAF Lakenheath, UK (F-15E). He was an instructor in both the F-111 and F-15E.
