Janet McClanahan Morris earned both a private pilot’s license and a balloonist’s license (Aeronaut). She was a member of the Stanford Flying club during World War II and later as a balloon pilot.
During World War II years private flying was banned on the West Coast but pilots could serve as members of the Civil Air Patrol in which the Stanford Flying Club participated. She also flew during the war hears in the Washington, DC area. Many years later she obtained her balloonist license.
