    Mr Jay M. Larson began flying on September 13, 1986 at the Marquette County Airport in Marquette, Michigan. He later received an instrument rating, commercial rating, multi-engine rating, and a flight instructor rating. He began flight instructing part time for Capitol City Express while still working as a police officer at Northern Michigan University which is also located in Marquette, Michigan. In addition to flight instructing, he began flying Part 135 charter for Capitol City Express with destinations in the Midwest Region of the United States.

    On June 5, 1994 Mr. Larson relocated to Biloxi, Mississippi and continued flight instructing and flying charter for Apollo Aviation located at the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport in Gulfport, Mississippi.

    On January 2, 1995, Mr Larson was hired by CommutAir, a U.S. Airways Express commuter airline based at the Clinton County Airport in Plattsburgh, New York. He began flying the line on the Beachcraft 1900D as first officer covering airports in the Northeast Region of the United States. He eventually upgraded to captain and continued to fly for CommutAir until accepting a flight officer position with United Airlines on November 2, 1998.

    Mr Larson was based at the Washington, DC domicile and began flying the line as a flight engineer on the Boeing 727 for United Airlines to destinations in the continental United States. He later upgraded to first officer on the Airbus A320/A319 and is now checked out on the Boeing 737 where he is currently flying as first officer.
