DR. JEFFERY PAONESSA
Dr. Jeffery Paonessa’s generosity is legendary, a true philanthropist in every sense of the word. Jeffery is a founder of the Gulfcoast Oncology Foundation and is its past president. In the course of his medical practice, Jeffery was aware of patients who were in dire financial situations. He and his staff personally helped patients keep the lights on a home, food on the table, and the car running. As a result of seeing his patients struggle, he founded Gulfcoast Oncology Foundation which provides funds to patients when non-medical financial need arise. This vital and responsive program is continued not only in Pinellas County but throughout the State of Florida. As a founding member of the Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation, he has graciously opened his home to host many parties and events. With an eye toward fostering future generations of health care providers, he is a member of the Boca Ciega High School Medical Magnet program and their advisory group which mentors students. Dr. Jeffery Paonessa model of volunteerism embodies the philosophy of patient care outlined in the Hippocratic Oath, ”I will take care that they suffer no hurt or damage.”
