    Jerry D. Ramsey, born 9 November 1935, in Maiden, NC. Enlisting in the Marine Corps where he served for 14 years including 2 Far East tours and aboard ship during the Cuban Crisis! Also was an Aircraft Electrician, Electronics Operator, Embarkation NCO and Recruiting Sergeant!
    Enlisting in the US Army for the Warrant Officer Flight Training Program, he was offered OCS. After graduating from Field Artillery OCS at Ft. Sill, OK, he was assigned to Officers Rotary Wing Class 69-16. After graduation, he completed the A/C Maintenance Officers Course and Helicopter Instrument Training Course.
    Reporting to the 3rd Brigade 9th Inf. Div located in the Mekong Delta. He was assigned as the Brigade Aviation Section A/C Maintenance Officer. During the 9 months he held this position, the unit had the best A/C Maintenance for 8 months in II Field Force and for 6 months the best in RVN. He received 2 Letters of Accommodation from the Commanding General II Field Force. He credits his 2 Maintenance NCO's and crew for this most fulfilling and memorable experience of his 20 years of military service!
    During this time Captain Ramsey earned both his DFC's flying Huey's and OH-6's in support of the Cambodian Operation. Other personal awards include Bronze Star w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal w/V Device and 19 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation w/Oak Leaf Cluster and Vietnam Cross Of Gallantry w/Palm.
    Completed his tour as A/C Maintenance Officer for the 23rd Arty Group flying the OH-58. His last tour was as a Research and Development Coordinator with Night Vision Laboratory (SEANOTS). He flew many different A/C with an assortment of systems installed!!
    Captain Ramsey is enjoying FULL retirement in the Lake City, Florida area with his son David and grandson Cade living nearby! A member of the MOAOA, VHPA, VFW, DFC Society, DAV and the American Legion
